San Francisco - April 16, 2007- Exent Technologies, a global market leader in broadband-based solutions for the monetization of PC and video games, has launched a first-of-its-kind campaign, through its French partner Metaboli. The campaign is available for consumers downloading Ubisoft’s Rayman Raving Rabbids in the UK and France and is exclusive to Metaboli’s users.
The campaign, offering a treasure-hunt style tournament, consists of four clues hidden, by Exent, throughout the game. Collecting all four clues will allow users to unlock a secret message. Players who unlock the message are able to claim one of several prizes, including cash prizes, game memorabilia, a Nintendo DS console or the DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids.
The campaign, incorporating in-game clues and hints, is introduced into Ubisoft’s Rayman game without the need to incorporate any new source code. This is enabled by using Exent’s patent pending AdMuse™ technology. AdMuse™ is the only in-game advertising technology on the market that enables the introduction of new advertising and campaigns at any stage of a game’s life cycle. This can be done during development, post-production or even after the game has been installed on a user’s machine – all without the need for any changes to the game’s source code.
The collaboration between Metaboli, Ubisoft and Exent is setting a precedent for new usage and community models for existing titles.
"Imagine the possibilities that stem from having a whole new category of game competitions that publishers and advertisers can utilize in future campaigns," said Zvi Levgoren, CEO, Exent Technologies. "These ‘Mini-Games within Games’, that are seamlessly integrated into an already deployed game, represent an innovative, easy to deploy and extremely engaging promotional vehicle for advertisers and creative agencies, that can now use the vast library of thousands of existing and newly released video games as ‘carriers’ for these ‘Mini-Games within Games’ campaigns."
Ubisoft’s "Rayman Raving Rabbids" is the fourth installment to the popular Rayman series and was a launch title for the Nintendo Wii console. The game features more than 70 minigames all centering on Rayman’s quest to rid of his planet’s infestation of crazed bunnies.
"We feel events like this and our upcoming community-focused new portal will set a new standard for games-on-demand services," said Pierre Forest, VP Content and co-founder, Metaboli. "Engaging in Games-on-Demand services is not only the best way to gain access to a large catalogue of premium games, we also aim to enhance game-play, create new interest for users and attract them by creating prize-winning tournaments".
