Exent Technologies enables Bluewin to launch first games and education on-demand service in Switzerland
Bethesda, Md., January 19, 2004 - Bluewin (www.bluewin.ch), Swisscom's ISP subsidiary has launched the first games and education-on-demand service in Switzerland. Bluewin's ADSL subscribers will now have access to a multitude of PC games and education titles. Bluewin offered software will be delivered and managed using Exent's EXEtender™ platform, which greatly simplifies the process of accessing and using games online for end-users.
Bluewin plans to approach its broadband customer base of over 250,000 DSL users, and offer them the games-on-demand service at an attractive price, starting from 7 CHF, through both subscription as well as rental modes. In addition to supplying the technology, Exent has also provided "best-practices" consulting to Bluewin, applying the expertise accumulated in over 15 other on-demand implementations with tier-1 access providers and ISPs worldwide.
"The games-on-demand offering enable us to increase the loyalty of our residential broadband users as well as to increase the appeal of broadband connectivity to additional customers", said Mark Langford, Head of Broadband Entertainment Services. "We see games and education-on-demand services as highly attractive applications, boosting ADSL subscriptions and generating significant attributable revenue".
"Coupling Bluewin's destination site strength with the best online gaming technology, will allow customers to receive better value for their money and for Bluwin to increase their ARPU", said Zvi Levgoren, Exent's CEO. "We plan to continue helping our customers with both online gaming as well as enabling them to support additional digital delivery modalities such as purchased games and full downloads."
