Exent Technologies to power internet games for Canadian consumers
Bell Canada customers to receive pay-as-you-play access to PC games via the Web
Bethesda, Md., 03/12/01 - Exent Technologies, the global leader
in software-on-demand technology, has signed an agreement with Bell
Canada, Canada's largest Internet communications provider to help
deliver Gamesmania, a subscription-based games-on-demand service,
to its customers.
Backed by the world's leading game publishers, Gamesmania is an
interactive game service offering consumer entertainment that is
available anytime, anywhere. Customers can access the latest PC-based
games from their home computers. The subscription service offers
customers pay-as-you-play access to a wide range of PC-based games
without the high cost or long-term commitment associated with video
game purchases.
"Bell is pleased to work with Exent to deliver the latest in
web-based games to Canadian consumers," said Karen Sheriff,
Chief Marketing Officer, Bell Canada. "This is a perfect example
of Bell's convergence vision in motion - bringing added value to
our customers by delivering the content they want through existing
channels of connectivity."
To facilitate the quick delivery of games to its customers, Bell
has chosen Exent's EXEtenderÔ software-on-demand technology,
which securely streams games to its subscribers. EXEtenderÔ
delivers games to subscribers equipped with any standard Web browser
via Bell Canada's broadband network. Rather than downloading software
as files that must be installed locally on the PC desktop, Exent's
EXEtenderÔ allows Bell Canada to host the games software on
its network, delivering streamed software that resides in memory
on the subscriber's desktop PC. This ensures customers have instant
access to to the games they want to play, when they want to play
them.
"Through this relationship, Canadian consumers are adding to
the long list of consumers around the world who, by using Exent's
EXEtender platform, enjoy easy access to state-of-the-art games
technologies as well as new games," said Zvi Levgoren, CEO
of Exent. "It also offers them the benefit of accessing their
favorite programs without the long-term buying commitment."
