We are a global leader in developing and marketing software products and services that enable the broadband-based delivery of video games known as Games-on-Demand. Games-on-Demand services are designed to monetize the extensive catalogue of video games that are no longer likely to generate significant revenue through retail sales channels.
This is achieved by a broadband-based distribution of video games to end-users through paid subscriptions and through free, ad-supported offerings. We market and sell our unique video game digital distribution platform and video game advertising technologies directly and through channel partners to broadband service providers and media companies that offer Games-on-Demand services to their end-users.
Currently video games are sold through one significant release window. This first release window is represented by sales through retail channels and, in accordance with industry data and according to our belief, typically lasts four months for a core game and two months for a hit casual game. Our products and services leverage broadband infrastructure to enable a second release window for video games.
This second release window, enabled primarily by our products and services, creates additional revenue streams for video game publishers, with negligible incremental costs, thereby offering such publishers additional opportunities to improve the financial return on their video game investment. Our products and services allow our customers to participate in the growing markets of video game digital distribution, online video games and online advertising.
Our EXEtender product provides advanced digital distribution of already-developed third-party PC-based video games using progressive, block-based delivery of video games and provides security features such as copy protection and online digital rights management (‘‘DRM’’). EXEtender further provides features, such as no-install, quick time-to-play and automatic video game updates, which make Games-on-Demand more user-friendly for the mass market.
EXEtender allows service providers to offer their end-users video game packages that include hundreds of video games per package.
Our AdMuse product allows advertisements to be incorporated in-and-around already-developed third party video games without any technical collaboration with the video game developer. AdMuse facilitates the dynamic incorporation of in-game two-dimensional and three-dimensional advertisements, during-the-game frame advertisements and around-the-game pre-roll and post-roll advertisements, all without having to change the video game’s source code.
AdMuse enables the flexible definition of advertising spots at any point in time, a feature known as dynamic inventory definition. AdMuse, combined with EXEtender, implemented over our extensive service providers’ distribution network, will be uniquely geared towards the creation of free, ad-supported Games-on-Demand offerings. These free, ad-supported offerings will not only generate advertising revenue, but will also help grow paid subscription revenues through increased awareness of Games-on-Demand,
reduced subscriber acquisition costs and increased conversion of those playing free, ad-supported video games to paid offerings.
The primary customers for our products and services are broadband service providers and media companies. Some of the companies using our products and services include Bell Canada, CBS/Showtime, India’s BSNL, MTNL and VSNL, Orange (France Telecom Group), Portugal Telecom (PT), ProSieben, Telecom Italia, Telecom Malaysia (TM Net), Telenor, Telstra, T-Online (Deutsche Telekom), Turner Broadcasting (Time Warner), Verizon and Virgin Media.
Exent is also proud of its relationships with leading publishers, among them Microsoft Game Studios, Ubisoft, Take2 Interactive, Atari, Eidos Interactive, CodeMasters Group, Konami, PlayFirst, iWin, Alawar, Riverdeep, Scholastic and Valusoft.
